This purple Calla Lilly , hand painted Majolica plate would be a beautiful accent to any decor! Majolica is known for its vibrant and colorful designs, which often feature intricate patterns and motifs, such as these beautiful Calla Lilies. A distinctive characteristic of majolica pottery is its tin-glazed finish and it is very evident in the finish on this plate. The shiny trim around the edge of the plate sets off the greens and purples in this artwork. This authentic Majolica plate was manufactured in Taiwan in 1992 and is engraved on the bottom. (see pics)
This Majolica piece was found in an estate sale in Macon, MS. The locals knew the owner of the estate as "Sugar Pie." He is a well-known and respected entrepreneur and past City Alderman for the City of Macon. He and his late wife, Ann, collected many beautiful things over many years while they lived in one of the city's oldest historical homes. Although his wife's illness prompted them to downsize, they still kept many treasures, this beautiful plate being one of them. I'm sure "Sugar Pie" would love for this to be passed on to become another's treasure!
