HI!
My name is Andrea and I am so excited that you have stopped by my little shop! I recently retired from being an elementary math and science teacher and loved every minute (well most of them, lol) of the 36 years I taught. But, I am so blessed that I now get to dive full time into another passion of mine that brings me so much fun....treasure hunting! There is so much thrill in searching through yard and estate sales, thrift stores, and antique shops looking for just the treasure to rescue. I love that so many people are now reviving, reusing, and repurposing relics of the past. Not only does it keep the items from landfills, it also salvages the history behind each of these items.....each having their own unique stories just waiting for someone to rejuvenate! I am so excited and feel so fortunate to be able to share these treasures and their stories!
I love Jesus, my family, music, Alabama football, and laughing till I wet my pants! I have a husband that spoils me and two adult sons and a daughter-in-law that I love more than my next breath. I, along with my older sister, take care of my 93 year young mom. I am so blessed!
My Story
My initial interest for finding and collecting dates back to my childhood. My Army father's death, six months prior to my birth, led to me being raised by a single mom who had grown up during hard Depression years in rural Alabama. I watched her save, repurpose, and reuse everything she ever owned to make sure my three siblings and I had plenty. When I was in my teens, my mom began attending auctions and estate sales, adding to her many collections of saved treasures. I followed along with her and my love for finding and collecting was sparked! After teaching for 36 years and starting many collections of my own, I knew I wanted to enjoy my retirement by finding and sharing old treasures. (My husband said I definitely had to start sharing if I was going to bring more home! lol) But, I also wanted to make sure my time, finances, and efforts were being spent on something that would have eternal effects. After much praying, God gave me the name and direction for my store,“Turn It Around.” It comes from Zephaniah 3:9 which reads, "For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.” He is definitely a ‘turn-around’, restoration God and has turned so many situations around for me and my family...I want to share His goodness in all I do! In doing this, God has opened up an avenue that allows me to give to a cause that became close to my heart during my teaching years, that of educating autistic children. A percentage of all profits from this store is donated to an autism education center in hopes that enriched 'turn around' experiences are gained for many sweet children.
Thank you for shopping with “Turn It Around”...I hope you will find just the treasure you are looking for and will shop with me again! (Let me know if there is something in particular you are looking for...I would love to try to find it for you!) Andrea
