This is a very rare heavy solid brass pedestal planter with a beautiful shiny patina. The planter has handles on each side that are both dog and lion like with hanging rings. I have been researching this piece for a while and have yet to find another one like it. The handles are obviously very unique and rare. The original sticker on the bottom states that it was made in Korea and is handmade lacquered. It is also stamped Williams Burg Pottery Factory. I have not been able to find any information on the factory with the two words separated like they are on the sticker: Williams Burg. I have been so intrigued by this piece and its history and would love to know more if anyone has any information on it. I found the beautiful planter in an estate sale of a lady that had been in a military family and had lived many years in Japan. The planter weighs a little over 2 lbs., is 7 1/2" wide with a 1/2" wide lip at the top. It stands 5 1/2" tall and the base is 4" across. As previously mentioned, the brass has a beautiful shiny patina and has one tiny scuffed mark on the top rim edge and a barely noticeable nickel-sized spot that is slightly dented. (See photos.) The planter is a unique gift for brass collectors and would be a beautiful addition to any decor!
