This beautiful scrappy grandmothers flower garden antique quilt is sewn in low volume fabrics and is definitely a gem!
Detailed Description: Multicolored Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt
Dimensions: 68” X 84.5”
Make: Hand Pieced & Hand Quilted
Stiches per inch (SPI): 6
Details: Each stitch tells a story of craftsmanship and attention to detail. There is minor batting shift, but there are no notable lumps in the quilt. The color combinations in this quilt design are really beautiful and very unique to its time period. There is a solid green background that is beautiful in itself because of the floral design made from the stitching. (Some of the photos make the back look turquoise, but it is more of a true green color.) The front flowers are trimmed in a dark and light green, varying in different areas. It is so hard to believe there are no stains, rips, tears, or seams coming loose on this old quilt! It is in amazing shape! This quilt has been carefully rinsed and air dried. Please view all pictures before buying.
History: This quilt was found at the estate once belonging to long time Chatom, AL, dentist, Dr. Charles Jordan and his wife, Janie, both deceased. The daughter of the two stated that the quilt was made by her grandmother, Keeble Bumpers, for her brother, Buddy Jordan. She told the story of how her grandmother was a sibling to 5 other ladies who, like Keeble, was very short. Everyone knew them as the "Short Sisters" and they were known for their quilting and sewing skills. Keeble's granddaughter told me that the quilt was over 100 years old. I love to refer to this treasure as the "Keeble Quilt"!
